The Port encompasses 7500 acres, 43 miles of waterfront and features 26 cargo terminals, including dry and liquid bulk, container, automobile and facilities. Combined, these terminals handle more than 162 million metric revenue tons of cargo annually. Last year, the Port moved an impressive 7.3 million TEUs, establishing a new national container record once again. The Port is also home to the nation's most secure cruise passenger complex, the World Cruise Center.

Mobil Arctic

On March 24, 1989 at 4 minutes past midnight, the oil tanker Exxon Valdez struck a reef in Alaska's spectacular Prince William Sound. An environmental nightmare began that changed not only Prince William Sound, but the world. No longer would people blindly believe promises from corporations that their operations were safe.

Update: February 1, 2007, San Francisco, Oil giant Exxon Mobil Corp. on Thursday posted the largest annual profit by a U.S. company — $39.5 billion, to $377.64 billion for the year.

Exxon Mobil Corp. is asking a federal appeals court to reconsider its December decision demanding the oil giant pay $2.5 billion to compensate thousands of fishermen and other Alaskans for the 1989 Valdez tanker oil spill. Irving, Texas-based Exxon maintains it should have to pay no more than $25 million because, among other things, it has spent more than $3 billion to settle federal and state lawsuits and to clean the Prince William Sound area.

* note the single hulled tanker is still in use today as opposed to the newer double hulled retrofitted tankers that can prevent future disasters.

THE GREATEST SHIP OF ALL

The Preussen

The authority on tall ships, the late Captain Alan Villiers, predicted we will return to sailing tall Ships and left us a legacy of writings and teachings for future generations. Delta Productions produced his last public lecture performance,
"Great Sea dogs of the Past" that performed at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Los Angeles, 1976
. We are currently in post production with this marvelous presentation for the educational and travel networks.
